Christmas caroling
Christmas and caroling are the holidays in which, as if with invisible threads, Christian ideas and Bulgarian folk tradition are intertwined in a distant past.
The feast of the Nativity of Christ is a continuation of the feast of Christmas Eve - the last day of Great Lent, which begins at midnight with the custom of caroling. Bachelors, fiancés and younger, soon-to-be married men take part in it. On this day, rituals and ceremonies related to the celebration of Christmas are performed.
The time for caroling is strictly defined by tradition - from midnight to sunrise on Christmas Day. In folk beliefs, this is when goblins, vampires, goblins and other supernatural creatures appear. It is believed that carolers have the power to drive them away with their songs.
